Volunteer Opportunity for Friends of Seasonal & Service Workers

  • Multnomah Meetinghouse Social Hall 4312 Southeast Stark Street Portland, OR, 97215 United States (map)

Multnomah Friends IMIrJ Sanctuary Cohort is sponsoring a “clothing sort” on behalf of the Friends of Seasonal and Service Workers (FSSW).  FSSW is an all-volunteer organization that is “dedicated to materially assisting seasonal, farm and service workers struggling for collective solutions to their poverty conditions through their own independent, community–backed organizing efforts.”

FSSW receives many boxes of donated clothing from Columbia Sportswear, which need to be sorted and labeled for a back-to-school distribution in Washington County.

We need many volunteers to make this a success.  FSSW folks will train us in specific sorting procedures.  Ideally, volunteers will spend the entire afternoon in this effort, but we realize that is not possible for all, so 2-hour shifts can be accommodated.  Middle and high school students are welcome to participate.

Please RSVP to Ann Dudley, annfrancesdudley@gmail.com or 503-736-9331.  Let Ann know if you can commit to the entire afternoon, the 1:00-3:00 pm shift, or the 3:00-5:00 pm shift.  Thank you!
