IMIrJ ally, Enlace, hosts:
This recently completed film follows the Occupation Free Portland campaign for two years as grass roots activists attempt to convince the City of Portland not to invest in companies violating human rights, particularly in Palestine. The cause gathers human rights allies as well as opponents along the way as it moves through City agencies to the Portland City Council. The campaign begins with dramatic debate before the courageous Human Rights Commission and advances through stages with the heartfelt testimonies of ordinary citizens.
The film follows a separate but similar campaign in which the Portland State University Student Senate challenges the University not to invest in companies committing human rights abuses.
Wright and the Occupation Free Portland steering committee will be present.
