Oregon Sanctuary Assembly 2017

Nearly 400 representatives of faith communities and organizations, from 50 different Oregon and Washington faith communities and organizations, filled First Christian on January 15th.

** All of the handouts and materials from the Assembly, including the slide presentation "Sanctuary is for Everyone," can be viewed and downloaded on our page "Resources for Sanctuary Supporters."  **

We know that sanctuary is much more than providing a physical space for someone at risk of deportation; it is a strategy and set of actions for faith communities, faith-based organizations, and people of conscience.

Get involved....

  • Come to an IMIrJ Monthly Gathering to connect with others doing sanctuary work!   This is the best way to get going. Come meet and dialogue with others, learn more about advocacy issues and opportunities, learn about social justice. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month, 6:30-8:30pm, at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church - Parish Hall. 1704 NE 43rd Ave., Portland OR 97213

  • Answer the call to join the Sanctuary Movement - sign the pledge for your faith community and join the growing list of sacred spaces offering refuge and protection to our immigrant brothers and sisters.
